Deo Tibba Base Camp Trek Deo Tibba is a beautiful 6001 m. high peak situated in the Pir Panjal range of mountains in the Manali valley of Himachal Pradesh. It is located at Duhangan Nalla and Malana glacier. Deo Tibba consists of an extensive ice cap the actual climb being a snow hump accessible once the edge of the ice plateau is reached. It also has the beauty of being just over the 6000 m. high mark which is a great achievement for any climber. Trekking to the base of mighty peak is an ultimate experience. The base of this peak is about 4500m. At this height one can feel the low level of oxygen in the air, which can cause dizziness and distress while climbing to the base camp. The base is near to a lake called Chota Chandertal. Above the small lake there is located another lake similarly called Chandertal but with larger magnitude. One can have a sight of the Highest Peak in the Pir panjal rage. The atmosphere up here is incredible and unpredictable. You will feel like floating on the clouds as the fog come across the camp and pass above the valley below. The conditions are harsh with freezing temperature at such height realizing one with the effects of altitude and adverse weather. The further route can be seen from this point, mostly the Duhangan col. which is clearly visible from the Chota Chandertal, is the toughest test for the climbers at initial climb after the base camp. The route to base camp is magnificent. One would be splendid by the views that site across the trek. The waterfalls, beautiful meadows, big vast fields of pastures, meandering streams and the lush green wild forests on the trail are unmatchable experience. This astonishing trek starts from Khanool village just 6 kms far from Jagatsukh. From  Jagatsukh to Khanol by taxi and then trek starts from Chhika. In couple of hours we reach at Chhika, a holy place for the locals where one can see the Nag devta (Snake deity) engraved naturally on the stone lying near to the place. The figure of the Nag Devta on the stone seems as it is actually climbing up to the forest. After all rest of the area offers great atmosphere.  After Chhika we hike up leaving treeline behind treading over the moraines till Pandu ropa. The Pandu ropa is also meant as a holy place. According to Hindu Mythology that Pandavas used to grow paddy at this point, as the name Pandu Ropa Suggests.  One can see paddy field on the way to the base camp. After Pandu ropa we reach Seri in 4-5 hours. Seri is a huge pasture ground surrounded by the peaks and waterfalls. Seri is a magical place where one will forget all the fatigue felt earlier on the trek. The vast green field has torrents and streams flowing along to it, creating a spectacular meandering landscape. The sunsets and the sunrises are often colorful here.  Seri to Tenta is about 3-4 hours. As climbing up to Tenta one has to cross the stream once and follow the stream on the left till Tenta , a grassy field below the lake. The scenery of valley below reminds one that how high they had come. After climbing hours one would feel less oxygen as approaching to the Tenta. The air gets thinner as we get near to Chota Chandertal.   It is a 3 or 4 day approach walk to base camp, till now one would have become well acclimatized to the atmosphere . The base camp is located near a glacier lake called "Chandra Tal" close to the main glacier that falls off the south-east face of Deo Tibba. This is at an altitude of 4500m/14850ft. It is quite a high base camp with the mighty Deo Tibba peak in the north and the Duhangan col. in front from the base. It is a decent trekking experience reaching up to the 4000m. altitude without any special efforts made. Dev Ropa Trek Dev Ropa Trek is the one of the most unfrequented trek amidst the majestic Himalayan Mountains. The irregular trek to the interiors of Chandrakhani Pass will leave one speechless by seeing rich Himalayan Flora and Fauna, highland meadows and ultimately to the vast fields of Dev Ropa. The trek brings all kind of adventures that one would expect being at the Himalayas. The great isolation splurged in the deep nature for few days would impact one with pure respect towards Mother Nature.  Dev means God and Ropa is descent, meaning descent of the God. The place of Dev Ropa is as similar as the name suggests. The extensive flatlands at Dev Ropa are as big as the multiple football grounds with several tiny torrents meandering aside. The picturesque trails during the trek would feel somewhat out of words. This incredible trekking experience starts from the ancient village of Naggar. The trek takes one through picturesque locations of Naggar to the remote village of Rumsu. As trekking higher we pass some of the ancient forests of conifers, Oak, Chestnut, Birch and Walnut. The forests open up the broad vista at some points giving one a chance to capture the beautifulness of the surroundings. The forests will keep rolling along until we reach alpine meadows after Naya Tapru. The vegetation keeps shortening after every distance we cover and at a point all the foliage turns into miniature. Once we reach at Chandrakhani Pass the landscape offers a grand view of mountain ranges seen distantly. Further the trek brings spectacular sites ready to be cherished and explored. The trek is moderately tough because of the altitude rise and the steep terrain en route. It takes about 5-6 days to approach Dev Ropa, which means it is not as easy as one could imagine. Being physically fit is requisite to experience the trek without any distress. Dev ropa is a holy place visited by the co related dwellers on occasions. So being at a holy place would enlighten one with spirituality and peacefulness. The trek brings out the wide range of Himalayan flora and fauna, meandering streams vast open grasslands to a spectacular heightened pass elevating 11,800ft. Dhana Kunnu Pass trek lies in backdrops of Kullu valley making its approach a bit demanding. The trek starts from the ancient village of Naggar, treading on a rough road to a beautiful setting at Matakochadi, an attractive place of broad vista and impressive surroundings. The immaculate canopies seen through the dense forests en route, cool breeze hitting at ones face and streams flowing ominously are the incredible site to be. The route gives one a pure chance to observe and understand the diversity of Himalayan Ranges, Himalayan flora and fauna. The trek takes one from lower dwellings to wild forests to alpine pastures, which becomes shorter as one hikes up the altitude. Finally the route opens up, where there is only miniature foliage with vast landscape and gushing winds around. After attaining the top a different route is taken backwards towards the point of start. Returning down would not be a big deal as the trail is reasonable and impressive.  The trek will fulfill all the aspirations of one’s thoughts of being in the Himalayas and will coincide with expected experience. The trek is known after its major river Pabbar, with numerous tributary streams flowing down to the lower inhabitation. Chandernahan Lake is the origin of the Pabbar river and is believed that the lake is the abode Goddess Kali, who is considered to be the guardian of people living in the co related valley. The trek is also famous for trout fishing and multiple tourist sites. This offbeat trek starts from Theog and heads toward Pabbar valley giving one glimpses of breathtaking mountain ranges especially Chansal mountain range. En route one will pass several attractive grasslands of pasture to a beautiful Chandernahan glacial lakes site. The Chandernahan lakes are surrounded by the massive mountain ranges capped with snow. The Chanderkhani Pass trek is done all year in any season. But the trek done in winter has a different charm and experience. In winter the trek offers great views of snow laden forests, mountains, meadows, peaks like Inderasan, Deo Tibba, Hanuman Tibba and some prominent ranges such as Bara Banghal Range, Pir Panjal Range, Priyadarshini range. This trek can be done by anyone, even those who have less or never been to the mountains. The trek starts from Naggar, located on the left bank of the river Beas, at 1700m., an ancient town and former capital of Kullu (till 1460 AD) . The valley holds rich culture, traditional houses, great temples and beautiful locations all across the region. One can enjoy visiting Art gallery, Naggar Castle and many other places in the surrounding. Situated in the middle of the Kullu Manali valley Naggar is approachable even in the heavy snowfalls too. In winter the snowfall turns this valley into heaven. The trail for Chanderkhani Pass actually starts from the Rumsu village. Rumsu is an ancient village just few km’s above Naggar. The trail to the pass passes through in the middle of the village. The temples in the village have beautiful intricate carvings. Houses made with wood and stone are interesting to see the rural architecture. The huge Deodar trees can be seen in the middle of Rumsu village. These trees are sited in the surrounding of the temple, are meant to be sacred and holy trees as believed in the whole valley. These trees are so huge that it takes a bunch of people to circle or hold it around.  Going further from Rumsu the trail brings us to the initial uphill through the forest. The trail till the campsite is full with dense forests of Deodar, Pine, Fir and Oak trees.  One can encounter huge trees of horse chestnut en route too. While climbing up we reach at the place called Stelling, a pastoral meadow which normally is covered with snow in winter.  Have lunch and spend some time at Stelling cause further on the snowy trail will start.  The conditions and the ratio of snowfall will decide the beginning of snow trail. It could start from the woods above Rumsu village or further up from Stelling or below. So snow will appear somehow on the trail sooner or later. Treading on the snow is not easy as beautiful it looks in a picture. Though walk slowly and steadily that you won’t slip or fall. Few ups and downs then we reach at Ghon Kradi. Our first day s camp at Ghon Kradi, is mainly a little meadow with huge trees all around and abandoned shepherds shelter.  ‘Ghon-Kradi’ in the local dialect means ‘Hammer and the Axe’. It is one of the places from where locals used to collect wood for winter. A bonn fire is appropriate on such chilly temperature in the evening. So spend a beautiful night with lighting up the camp fire at Ghon Kradi. After Ghon Kradi an enchanting trail to Naya Tapru will continue. The route to Naya Tapru consists of great snow, as great that trees and its branches are almost immersed and wrapped inside snow. Some smaller trees and a lot more vegetation is seen lost under the great snow. Walking on the deep snow could be a challenge, but with strong will and endurance one can easily pass these obstacles. As you go up the trail, the whole of the Beas valley opens up to you. You begin to see the Dhauladar Range beyond the Beas valley in all its snowcapped glory. The terrain leading uphill is slightly steep on just below the Naya Tapru (9,970ft). However the scenic beauty around would make one to forget fatigue and discomfort. At naya tapru you can have soothing views of most of the Himalayan ranges from a great distance. After spending quality time at Naya Tapru we head back towards the campsite at Ghon Kradi.  One should reach the camp by the late afternoon. Stay another wonderful night at Ghon Kradi making Bonn fire on the snow. Next day climb down to roadhead following the same route till Rumsu.  From Rumsu ride back to Naggar by any local conveyance.

The terrain leading uphill is slightly steep on just below the Naya Tapru (9,970ft). However the scenic beauty around would make one to forget fatigue and discomfort. At naya tapru you can have soothing views of most of the Himalayan ranges from a great distance. After spending quality time at Naya Tapru we head back towards the campsite at Ghon Kradi.  One should reach the camp by the late afternoon. Stay another wonderful night at Ghon Kradi making Bonn fire on the snow.. Next day climb down to roadhead following the same route till Rumsu.  From Rumsu ride back to Naggar by local conveyance.

Take an overnight bus from Delhi and you will reach Manali in 12 ‐ 14 hours(approx 540 KMS). Tickets can be booked online at www.redbus.in or www.hrtc.gov.in Tip : Since Delhi Manali is a long journey most Volvo private buses leave Delhi between 5 pm and 6 pm. The last govt bus leaves at 8.30 pm from ISBT Kashmere Gate. Volvo buses charge between Rs.1,000 to 1,400 per sector from Delhi to Manali and vice versa. Manali to Delhi: Like the onward journey, buses leave from Manali to Delhi between 4 and 5 p.m. Your tentative arrival at Delhi may be anywhere between 6 a.m and 10 a.m. Plan your onward journeys only post noon giving enough buffer for bus delay. How to reach Naggar: From Manali, Naggar is 18 km. far and there are multiple buses running in every 15 minutes or one can get off at Patlikuhal which is 5 km. far from Naggar on the right bank highway. Patlikuhal lies in between of Kullu Manali. You can club a taxi or travel by a local transport from Manali or Patlikuhal to approach Naggar.   Nearest Railway Station:- Nearest Railway station is Ambala (350 kms) and Chandigarh (310 kms). The airliners that take you to this Airport are Indian Airlines, Kingfisher airlines, MDLR Airlines and Jagson Airlines, operating flights from Delhi and Chandigarh to Kullu.
